Kraft Foods recently issued a voluntary recall of about 242,000 cases of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese Dinners because of the possibility that some boxes could contain tiny shards of metal. The recall only affects the original flavor of mac and cheese dinners, and only those with select manufacturing codes (products with C2 below the code) and code dates (Best When Used By 18 Sep 2015 through 11 Oct 2015).
Important to note in this recall: some of the products were sold in multi-pack units with a variety of different manufacturing codes and code dates on the external package. This means that different package configurations may or may not be affected by the recall. Consumers are encouraged to check individual boxes closely.
Here are the four package configurations that were affected:
- 7.25 oz. box of original flavor Kraft Mac and Cheese Dinner
- 3-pack box of 7.25 oz. boxes
- 4-pack shrink wrap of 7.25 oz. boxes
- 5-pack shrink wrap of 7.25 oz. boxes
The product was shipped throughout the United States and a few other countries, not including Canada. No other pasta shapes, sizes or varieties are affected in this recall — only the original flavor, standard noodle shape boxes.
Kraft says that customers who purchased the product should return it to the stores where they can receive a full refund. They can also contact Kraft consumer relations at 1-800-816-9432 for a refund.
